Combined, these 100 wells are going to give around half a million people fresh water to drink.
100 wells. Half a million lives.
Access to clean drinking water can transform an entire community in seconds. In this project, 100 new wells were built across Africa, providing fresh water for around half a million people.
Reaching clean water
The drill went hundreds of feet into the ground, passing through polluted underground sources until it reached a much larger aquifer containing clean, drinkable water.
Filling a five-gallon container took about a minute, while the well itself could provide approximately 3,600 gallons of water each day.
Water close to home
It was built only about ten feet from the school, so students no longer had to spend hours traveling down and back up the mountain. Instead, they could fill their containers directly at the school.
